Los Potrillos: A Family Dream That Started on Wheels
What began as a simple dream shared by a hardworking family from Puebla, Mexico, and Guatemala has grown into a place where tradition, flavor, and perseverance come together to serve the Philadelphia community.
Our story started like many immigrant journeys, built on sacrifice, long hours, and an unbreakable belief in a better future. In 2001, a young family member, Esteban, arrived in the United States with determination and hope. Over the years, our family worked in different jobs, learning the importance of discipline, teamwork, and honest labor.
In 2015, we moved to Philadelphia to start over once again. Times were difficult. We lived in a small basement, resources were limited, and stability felt far away. But those challenges pushed us to dream bigger.
With just $50 and a shared passion for cooking, our family decided to create something of our own something that honored our roots and allowed us to share the authentic flavors of our culture. That dream became Los Potrillos, launching first as a food truck in November 2016. In 2018, we proudly opened our restaurant, bringing our food to a permanent home.
Through faith, hard work, and the support of our community, our family dream continued to grow. In 2024, we reached another milestone by moving to our new location at 2016 E. Venango Street, strengthening
